Ogun State Government through the State Ministry of Transportation says it is putting together more coordinated economic strategies that will promote symbiotic relationship and exchange programme for the launch of the proposed Lagos-Ogun Joint Commission.

The State Commissioner for Transportation, Engr. Gbenga Diaro, disclosed this while presenting the 2020 budget performance of the Ministry and that of the Park and Garages Development Board (PAGADEB) before the Committee on Transportation led by Hon. Oludaisi Elemide at the Assembly Complex, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.

He explained that the programme which was supposed to have been launched a few months ago was being delayed by the ravaging global pandemic, assuring that the programme would be carried out as soon as the challenge being posed by the virus is over.

According to Diaro, the Commission, when launched would have various sub-committees that would harness plans and initiatives in areas of urban planning, environment, waste management, security and transportation amongst others to boost the socio economic activities of the two States.

He added that the partnership in transportation sector became imperative as the two States shared boundary, which needed a unified traffic and transformation system, hence the two governors had expressed readiness to plan, manage and finance a more robust transportation sector for the benefit of the residents of the two States.

The Commissioner noted that more measures including reforms in revenue management system in the transport sector would be unveiled with a view to ensuring transparency and accountability in revenue generation from the sector.
