The Lagos State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, praised Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State for his dedication to preserving the cultural heritage of the ancient state.
Mr. Richard Benson, the State’s Publicity Secretary of the Party, issued a statement in Lagos commending the re-enthronement of former CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, as the 16th Emir of Kano, stating that it emphasized the importance of upholding tradition.
Benson also applauded Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of the state and 2023 Presidential Candidate of the NNPP, for his efforts in safeguarding tradition.
“We, the New Nigeria People’s Party, Lagos State chapter, commend Governor Abba Yusuf, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the entire House of Assembly of Kano for their commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the people,” he said.
“We are pleased with the initiatives aimed at restoring and preserving the values, traditions, and heritage of the people, as well as the determination to rejuvenate the ancient city of Kano,” he added.
Benson cautioned against politicians manipulating core traditions and cultural heritage for political gain, emphasizing the need for collective effort to set an example for other states.
NAN reported that Yusuf signed the amended Kano State Emirates Council bill into law on May 23, dissolving the Emirate Council and reinstating Sanusi to his seat as the former Kano Emir who was deposed in 2020.
