Lagos State Government has celebrated Christmas with in-patients at Alimosho General Hospital, Igando, by presenting gifts to the patients made up of children, youths, men and women from all the Units/Wards within the facility.

Speaking at the event, the Head of Directorate, Disease Control, Lagos State Ministry of Health, Dr. Olurotimi Agbolagorite, stated that the gesture from the State Government is a way of identifying with the citizens even while in the hospital.

He said: “This occasion was part of the efforts of the State government to show love and kindness to every resident, knowing fully well that due to the present health condition of the patients in the hospital, they may be unable to spend the Christmas day with their families and friends”.

Dr. Agbolagorite expressed hope that the patients will all get well soon, encouraging them that it is worthy to be grateful for being alive despite their present condition.

He also commended the management staff and workforce of the hospital for their efforts and contributions to the development of the health sector in the State, noting that the hospital has achieved a lot in terms of efficiency and effectiveness.

His words: “Alimosho General Hospital is one of the most efficient hospitals in the State. There is good leadership, the level of commitment, innovativeness, and support to the leadership here is incredible. The hospital delivers very good and affordable service”.

“I thank you all for your deliberate efforts to deliver quality services to the citizens of Alimisho and to Lagos State as a whole. Kudos to you for the laudable achievements you have had so far and for your relentless commitment to ensuring that you achieve greater heights”, he added.

On the request by the hospital for more government interventions, Dr. Agbolagorite said the requests would be relayed to the Governor for necessary action and intervention.

In his remarks, the Medical Director, Alimosho General Hospital, Dr. Ayodapo Soyinka, said the occasion was a day to show love, noting that the best way to show love is to give as already exemplified by the State Government.

He commended the efforts of the staff of Alimosho General Hospital for the support and collective focus despite all the challenges faced to deliver quality service to residents of the community.

Dr. Soyinka stated that the hospital has experienced steady progress and tremendous impact in the last few months, especially in the month of October and November due to the collective efforts of all members of staff, reaffirming that the hospital will continue to focus on patients’ satisfaction in addition to ensuring effective medical care for the patients.

He said: “We are focusing on the culture of maintenance and repair, we are constantly building and repairing infrastructure in the hospital. We have a functional and dynamic hospital and will ensure that there is progress in our services by continuing to extend our frontiers and introducing new areas to make the hospital one of the top government hospitals to be reckoned with in Lagos State”.

The Medical Director, however, identified some challenges confronting the hospital and pleaded for more medical infrastructure within the hospital, just as he also called on the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources to assist in finding a lasting solution to the refuse dumpsite near the hospital.

Delivering a short sermon during the event, Dr. Akinbode Fafiolu, noted that Jesus is the reason for the season and urged all to emulate his attributes of love, forgiveness and ensure they constantly have the right connection to Him.

He implored the members of staff to always be emphatic towards the patients while encouraging them to put their hope in God.
