The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on Sunday, vowed to prosecute all 11 employees of 10POTS Night Club in Lekki who assaulted officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency.
This was disclosed by the spokesperson for the state’s Ministry of the Environment, Kunle Adeshina, via his X handle on Sunday.
According to Adeshina, 11 employees, comprising four males and seven females, of 10POTS Night Club were arrested after brutalising the state officials who had earlier sealed the premises for environmental infractions.
He said, “The arrested employees removed the seal of LASEPA, which was used to secure the premises between 11 am and 11: 33 am on Saturday, October 14, following enforcement activities.
“And by 12.44 pm., when LASEPA operatives returned to the club, it had been reopened and back to business.
“Attempts to reseal the premises were violently resisted by the staffers, inflicting bodily harm on state officials, necessitating the call for reinforcement of security.”
The Environment Commissioner, who spoke after the arrest, stated that they would all be arraigned before appropriate courts of law on Monday and the property owner to serve as a deterrent to others who might consider embracing such illegal options.
