Ogun State Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, has cleared the air on a recent statement attributed to his Lagos State counterpart, which suggested that Ogun State was responsible for the flood in Lagos State yesterday.
Oresanya revealed that the Lagos Commissioner was misquoted and has since promised to retract the statement. He expressed gratitude for the swift clarification and commended the Commissioner for his mature handling of the situation.
The Ogun State Government reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of its citizens, particularly those in border towns, and appreciates the vigilance of those who brought the matter to their attention.
He said, “My attention was drawn to news ascribed to the Lagos State Commissioner for the Environment that Ogun State is the remote cause of flood yesterday in Lagos State”.
“While seeking clarification from the Commissioner on the said statement, he assured me that he was misquoted and promised to pull down the post immediately”.
“I wish to express my appreciation for the matured handling of the misinformation and also assured the Commissioner of our shared commitment to common goal of ensuring the well-being of our citizens, especially those living in the border towns”.
“I also wish to express my appreciation to those who brought my attention to the message and assure them that Ogun State Government, under the watch of Prince Dapo Abiodun, will not relent on the social contract with the people of Ogun State”, he added.
