…Enrols Qualified Beneficiaries From All LGs/LCDAs across the State
The Lagos State Government has commenced the Community Talent Hunt and IT-Enabled (Digital) Entrepreneurship Skills Training for the first batch of 1140 youths across all Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas in the State as part of its Youth Engagement Initiative.
The Commissioner for Wealth Creation & Employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke spoke in Alausa, saying that the Talent Hunt comprises Digital Entrepreneurship Skills Training and Mentorship for Unemployed Youths in the 57 LGs/LCDAs.
She informed that while thousands of youths had signified interest in the Talent Hunt initiative when it was first announced by the Ministry, only 1140 beneficiaries could be accommodated in the first batch, just as she promised that more batches will be shortlisted until all the youths are engaged.
Mrs. Arobieke informed that the resolve of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu to make Lagos Youths employers of labour and ensure they are not left out in the scheme of things inspired the Talent Hunt initiative.
She added that the present administration is convinced that youth empowerment will allow the beneficiaries to contribute to the socio-economic development of the State and governance.
Recalling Governor Sanwo-Olu’s earlier promise to recognise talents in each LG/LCDA and transform them into a 21st-century world-class workforce and entrepreneurs, Mrs. Arobieke stressed that the initiative is a fulfilment of the promise.
She further stated that the Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment would help the youths identify their talents, passion as well as innate gifts and turn same into businesses through the IT-Enabled Entrepreneurship training and mentorship for selected youths with entrepreneurship dreams.
Her words: “It is expected that the Talent Hunt competition will expose participants to the business side of their innate passion, talents and natural gifts with the intention of turning these endowed gifts into businesses so that they can become the CEOs of their various businesses”.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Olujimi Ige, stated that the purpose of the IT-Enabled Entrepreneurship Training is to identify talents, innate gifts and passion of youths to make them competitive in the global space.
