Labour Party’s Akpata Loses Polling Unit as PDP, APC Lead in Strongholds

The Labour Party (LP) candidate, Olumide Akpata, has lost his polling unit in the ongoing Edo State election to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

According to the results posted on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) portal, Ighodalo secured 41 votes at Unit 11, Ward 6, Oredo local government area, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 19 votes. Akpata’s Labour Party managed only 2 votes in the unit.

The election results indicate that the APC and PDP are holding their ground in their respective strongholds, with APC’s Monday Okpebholo leading in Edo North and PDP’s Asue Ighodalo ahead in Edo South.

In Etsako West local government area at the Igbira Camp Booth, APC led with 90 votes, followed closely by PDP with 85 votes, while LP trailed with 13 votes. In Owan West at Ifidon by Bright in Sobe, APC again took the lead with 90 votes, PDP scored 75, and LP managed 13 votes.

In Uhunmwonde, at Uvbenisi Primary School, APC scored 83 votes, PDP secured 47, and LP received 6 votes.

In Egor local government area at Paramount Nursery and Primary School, APC scored 17 votes and PDP had 22 votes. In Oredo local government at New Benin, Unit 27, the PDP led with 56 votes, APC scored 36, and LP received 5 votes.

Notably, in Ikpoba-Okha, the polling unit of PDP’s deputy governorship candidate, Osarodion Ogie Esq., PDP won convincingly with 216 votes, while APC scored 29 votes.
