Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the suspension of Mustapha Indabawa, the Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television, and appointed Hajiya Hauwa Ibrahim as the acting Managing Director.

The appointment, effective immediately, was announced in a letter dated May 27, 2024, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Baffa Bichi. Ibrahim, who previously served as the deputy managing director of the television station, is expected to take over the affairs of the station.

The suspension and appointment follow an investigation by the Kano State Anti-Corruption Commission into allegations of criminal conspiracy, misappropriation, and diversion of funds against Indabawa and Ibrahim M. Bello, a staff officer. The commission’s investigation was prompted by a petition filed with the state governor.

The Kano State Government has filed seven charges against the suspended MD and staff officer, and the matter is ongoing.
