Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has presented a supplementary budget of N99.2 billion to the Kano State House of Assembly for the 2024 fiscal year.

This budget is intended to cover personnel wages, overhead costs, capital expenditures, and the implementation of new projects introduced by his administration.

The budget breakdown includes N33.76 billion for personnel costs, N34.49 billion for overhead, and N30.97 billion for capital projects.

The Speaker of the House, Ismail Falgore, expressed his commitment to ensuring the swift approval of the budget, citing its alignment with sections 122(A and B) of the 1999 constitution, which supports the acceleration and execution of priority projects for the state’s citizens.

The Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Musa Shanono, highlighted that the supplementary budget, when combined with the state’s original 2024 budget of N437.3 billion, will raise the total budget to N536.56 billion.

He also emphasized that the supplementary budget would cover the payment of the new minimum wage alongside other development priorities such as infrastructure, human capital, health, and education.

In a related development, Yusuf Aliyu, a member representing the Nassarawa constituency, proposed a motion urging the state government to rehabilitate the Gwagwarwa mini stadium.

He noted that the stadium’s deteriorated condition has turned it into a haven for drug users, contributing to insecurity in the area.

Aliyu called for the stadium’s restoration to promote sports development and enhance community security.
