A devastating flood triggered by heavy rainfall has ravaged Chikaji and neighboring communities in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, forcing residents to flee their homes.

The disaster has resulted in widespread destruction, with houses, drainages, and a local cemetery severely affected.

Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, who represents the area, has appealed for immediate intervention to alleviate the suffering of the victims.

He urged the affected residents to remain calm as the government works to address their situation.

Village Head Auwal Sani-Danbaba reported that the floodwaters have damaged parts of the LEA Primary School and washed away several graves at the Hayin Ojo Cemetery.

Despite the severity of the incident, he lamented that no assistance has been received from the authorities so far.

The flood has left the affected communities in dire need of support to recover from the devastating impact.

“Presently, many graves were left open; while some victims of the flood are sheltered in the neighbourhood. But so far, there was no loss of life during the incident, We are in dire need of support to rebuild our homes and our lives.”

” We are calling on the government and well-meaning Nigerians to come to our aid,” he pleaded.
