The Osun State Governor, Mr Gboyega Oyetola has tasked Osun State corps members to collaborate with the government in making the economy bigger and stronger by embracing skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.
The Governor made this known during his address at the swearing in ceremony of the 2019 NYSC batch C stream I corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede in Osun State.
Gboyega Oyetola who was represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Honourable Olayemi Lawal said, “be creative and innovative as graduates and elites of our nation. Let’s not only think of consuming but rather begin to think of what you can produce or offer as a solution to human needs and problems. Imbibe the mindset of an entrepreneur and tow the path of diligence, hard work, and industry, which is the key to lasting success and prosperity”.
Earlier, the state coordinator, NYSC Osun state, Mr. Adegoke Ayodele while speaking during the swearing-in program appealed to the state government to intervene in the rehabilitation of dilapidated camp facilities.
According to him, “most of the structures have been in place since the inception of the permanent orientation camp and are becoming too small due to the expansion in the scheme and increasing corps population. The management of the scheme over the years have tried their best to maintain and renovate this facilities but the paucity of funds on the part of the scheme; being a non profit making but service rendering organization, has made real-time rehabilitation of structures and facilities difficult”.
The coordinator, Mr Adegoke equally called out to the friends of the scheme who have passed through the scheme and have benefited in one way or the other from the scheme to join hands with the management of the scheme to give the orientation camp a good face.
Also, he urged the corp members to take all phases of the service year seriously as failure in one is a failure in all.
