The Young Progressives Party in Ogun state has extended its hands of membership to youths across the state.

The State Chairman of the party, Asiwaju Abdulateef Adedamola Adesina urged the youths in the state to take advantage of the platform and actively get involved in partisan politics.

Adesina said this on Sunday in Abeokuta while recieving members of the New Nigeria Project, a non-governmental and non-political organization in the state.

The YPP chairman stressed that the party is ready to put a stop to years of social, economic and political decadence allegedly occasioned by Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress.

He noted that there are other things to be changed in the country apart from the EndSARS campaign embarked by the youth.

He added, “it would be recalled that the youths recently came together in solidarity to put and end to police brutality and harassment, but in actually fact there are a lot more things to be changed about Nigeria aside ENDSARS.

“Nigeria as a nation clocked 60 years in October and yet do not have a good road, stable water and yet the government is requesting for tax on a borehole or well dug in our homes.

“That’s the type of system we have at the moment, the system that doesn’t give the youths any opportunity whatsoever

“This agitation is not just about the youths, if we look at those in power, most of them assumed the position at a very young age but the system get them corrupted.”

He further said, “YPP as it name implies is young and Progressives. It’s a political platform that want to grab power from all levels of governance.

“So, our intention is to take over from the current set of politicians and our vision is to run a run inclusive party in all aspects of governance as a new Nigeria is possible with YPP as we are here to discourage money bag politics.

“Another opportunity is coming in 2023, we are ready to sensitize our people through Education to know about our agenda for a new Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the coordinator of New Nigeria Project, Barrister Kayode Akinsola, said members of the group decided to adopt YPP so as to thrive the agenda of New Nigeria.

Barrister Akinsola lamented that APC and PDP have over the years maintained the same narrative as the only different between them is the party logo.

He maintained that the youths are ready to brace up for a better Nigeria because the are more politically aware and active now.

He further said, “today, we are making a decision by the teeming youths who have participated in the ENDSARS struggle that the very best thing is to have a political structure that could Cascade the genuine intention of an average youth in Nigeria for then to have a political affiliation in order for them to actualize a better NIGERIA that they all deserve.

“When we look at the current political formation being run recently in Nigeria, it will be discovered that the education system has dilapidated as the cost of governance is high.

“New Nigeria Project is here today to adopt the Young Progressive Party as a political platform to thrive the agenda of the new Nigeria.

“Like the duo of APC and PDP has over the years maintained the same narrative as the only different between them is the party logo.

“Nigeria over the years have not witnessed a new narrative and no new wave of change in what they do

“There’s no one that will still believe of a positive change under them

“The New Nigeria Project basically comprises of young, energetic and professional youths as the current numerical strength is quite huge and their intellectual capacity is something to be considered

“I am certain and sure that from what I witnessed recently, the youths are more than ready to brace up for a better Nigeria because the are more politically aware and active now.”
