JAPANESE COMPANY HANDS OVER EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO SUPPORT OGUN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

A Japanese company, Kawasho Foods Trade and JFE-SHOJI Corporations, on Wednesday, in its bid towards supporting education in Ogun State handed over some educational materials and Geisha products to some public primary schools in the State.

The educational materials, which were; 450 desks and benches, 11,000 copies of 60 leaves exercise books and 150 cartons of Geisha products were handed over to about 11 public schools which cut across the three (3) senatorial districts in the State, held at State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) premises, Abeokuta.

The schools were; NUD Primary School, Oke-Ijeun, St. Saviour Primary School, Ijoko, All Saints Primary School II, Owode, St. Paul’s African Church Primary School, Ifo, Our Lady of Apostle Primary School, Ijebu-Ode, Community Primary School, Eruwon.

Others are; St. John’s Catholic Primary School, Iperu, St. John’s Anglican Primary School, Ayila, Community Primary School, Alagbe, Yewa North Local Government Primary School IV, Oja-Odan and Ebenezer Baptist Primary School, Saje, Abeokuta. 

In his address, the SUBEB Secretary, Mr Olalekan Kuye, appreciated the good gesture by the corporation, saying that it would make learning more convenient for the students, and also help in improving their academic performances.

“The donated furnitures would improve learners’ sitting posture and convenience while the exercise books would provide writing materials for learners’ especially the indigent ones which would in the overall improve their academic performance. Also, the Geisha products would serve as meal supplement to improve learners’ diet in order to aid them to develop appropriately, live a healthier life and attain their full potentials.

“I therefore salute Kawasho Foods Trade and JFE-SHOJI Corporations, Japan which are well known brands in Nigeria especially with the Geisha trademark. The Donors’ passion for the personal well-being and comfort of school children makes today’s donation the third of its kind by the corporation and I urge you to continue with the good gestures even as I assure you that your efforts would continue to appreciated by God and Humanity in million folds” 

Kuye, also call on individuals and organisations to join the State Government in the area of providing interventions towards education within the State, adding that the government cannot do it alone, therefore there is a need to join hands together towards overall development of our education system. 

However, the Board Secretary, enjoined the schools to make good use of the facilities and materials provided by the corporations. 

“I wish to equally use this medium to charge the management of the benefitting schools to make good use of the facilities and materials provided by the corporations towards safeguard from vandalism and regular maintenance to motivate the donors to do more for the good people of Ogun State” he said. 

Also speaking, the Executive Vice President, JFE-SHOJI Trade Corporation, Shotaro Tsumura, appreciated the people of Nigeria for their continued patronage of the products.

“It will continue to contribute to Children’s education and health and that Geisha brand canned food will continue to be a part of people’s everyday lives”

He, also said that they are pleased to hold the ceremony again this year, thereby making it the ninth year. 

The Senior Special Adviser on Education to the State Governor, Mrs Ronke Soyombo, while giving her motherly advise, urged the children to work hard and also work smart to become great in life.

“My mother did not give me a good advise, when I was young like you, she only told me to work hard and not also work smart, but today as a mother, I will urge you to work hard and also work smart”

She also appreciated the donors for the good gesture, and pledged that it would be used for the greatness of the children.
