Extracts…

Congratulations on your upcoming investiture as President of ABEOCCIMA! What are your thoughts on the current state of Nigeria’s economy, and how do you think the Chamber of Commerce can contribute to its growth?

Thank you! I’m honored to take on this role. Nigeria’s economy faces challenges, including revenue dependence on oil, infrastructure deficits, and a fragile business environment.

However, I believe we have opportunities for growth in diversification, innovation, and SME development. As ABEOCCIMA President, I plan to work closely with stakeholders to advocate for policies that support business growth, facilitate trade and investment, and enhance the competitiveness of our members.

How do you plan to contribute to the development of the Chamber of Commerce in Abeokuta, and what specific initiatives do you intend to implement?

My vision is to make ABEOCCIMA a vibrant platform for business growth, advocacy, and networking. We’ll focus on capacity building through training and mentorship programs, trade missions to explore new markets, and policy engagement to enhance the business environment.

Specifically, we’ll establish a business resource center, ensure participation in trade fairs and exhibitions, and facilitate access to finance for MSMEs.

We’ll also strengthen our advocacy role, working closely with government agencies and stakeholders to address business concerns.

What strategies do you recommend for business development and sustainability in Nigeria, and how can businesses balance profitability with social responsibility?

Businesses must adopt innovative practices, invest in technology, and prioritize corporate governance. They should also focus on succession planning to ensure continuity beyond the proprietor.

To achieve sustainability, businesses must integrate social and environmental considerations into their operations, embracing responsible practices that benefit both the bottom line and the community.

How do you plan to engage with members, stakeholders, and the wider community to achieve your vision for ABEOCCIMA?

I plan to engage in regular meetings, member visits, and stakeholder forums to listen to concerns and ideas. We’ll establish a strong communication platform, leveraging digital media and traditional channels to keep members informed and involved.

We’ll also collaborate with other Chambers of Commerce, industry associations, and government agencies to amplify our voice and drive collective progress.

How do you balance your work as a Tax Expert and Chartered Accountant with your new role at ABEOCCIMA, and how will your professional experience inform your leadership?

My professional experience complements my role at ABEOCCIMA. As a Tax Expert and Chartered Accountant, I’ve worked closely with businesses, understanding their challenges and opportunities.

This expertise will enable me to provide practical support and guidance to our members, while my leadership role will allow me to advocate for policies and initiatives that benefit the business community.

How do you plan to work with OGUNCCIMA to sustain the development of the Chamber movement in Ogun State?

I believe collaboration is key. I plan to engage closely with OGUNCCIMA to align our objectives, share resources, and amplify our advocacy efforts.

We’ll work together to promote business growth, trade, and investment in Ogun State, ensuring a unified voice for the business community.

What are your thoughts on the ease of doing business in Ogun State, and how can the Chamber of Commerce contribute to improvements?

While progress has been made, there’s still room for improvement. I believe the Chamber of Commerce can play a crucial role in advocating for policy reforms, simplification of regulatory processes, and infrastructure development. We’ll work closely with the state government to ensure a more conducive business environment.

As a businessman, Chartered Accountant, and Tax Expert, what hobbies do you enjoy in your free time?

I’m passionate about reading, particularly on topics related to business, economics, and leadership. I also enjoy traveling, meeting new people, and learning about different cultures. Additionally, I’m a socialite and I enjoy every bit of it.

How do you think businesses in Ogun State can leverage technology to enhance their operations and competitiveness?

Technology is a game-changer. Businesses must embrace digital transformation, invest in data analytics, and leverage e-commerce platforms to expand their reach. We’ll provide training and support to help our members adapt and thrive in this digital age.

What message do you have for young entrepreneurs and start-ups in Abeokuta?

I urge them to be innovative, resilient, and focused. We’ll provide mentorship, training, and resources to support their growth. Our goal is to create an ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurship and job creation, ensuring a brighter future for our youth.
