Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has cautioned police officers against seeking undeserved promotions, threatening to penalize those found guilty of the practice.

Speaking at a ceremony in Abuja where newly promoted top officers were decorated, Egbetokun noted that some officers often use highly placed personalities to lobby for unwarranted promotions.

He emphasized that such behavior would no longer be tolerated and urged the newly promoted officers to set a good example for their colleagues.

The IGP advised the promoted officers to live up to expectations and warned that any officer found soliciting undeserved promotion would face disciplinary action.

This directive aims to promote meritocracy and professionalism within the police force.
