In response to the escalating incidents of kidnapping, murder, and ritual killings within Ogun State, the State House of Assembly has issued a resolution, urging the immediate provision of essential tools and technology to bolster the state’s security infrastructure.

During the plenary session at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Speaker Oludaisi Elemide presided over the debate that led to the resolution.

Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju emphasized the critical need for the government to collaborate with security stakeholders, including the Security Trust Fund and the private sector, to acquire ‘Autel Drone Robotics Evo Max 4T’ for tracking criminals.

Honourables Babatunde Tella and Adebisi Oyedele echoed Adeyanju’s concerns about insecurity, particularly highlighting the recent gruesome murder of a JAMB candidate, who happened to be the Speaker’s niece.

They stressed the urgency of addressing kidnapping and ritual killings, advocating for government support in providing security agencies with necessary gadgets and the installation of solar cameras in strategic locations across the state.

The motion for the resolution was subsequently presented by Majority Leader Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Hon. Lukmon Atobatele, and received unanimous support through a voice vote from the entire House.

Additionally, Speaker Elemide, along with other lawmakers, extended congratulations to the Olu of Itoriland, Oba Abdul-Fatai Akorede Akamo, on his 20th coronation anniversary.

The Assembly also announced a valedictory plenary on March 5, 2024, to honor the retiring Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Adedeji Taiwo Adeyemo.
