Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State to rally behind the party’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku described Ajayi as a seasoned politician with the ability to lead the party to victory and significantly improve the lives of the people in the state.

Atiku, the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, also warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other election management bodies to prevent any form of electoral malpractice during the election.

“The upcoming governorship election presents a chance for the people of Ondo State to improve their state and elevate its prosperity,” Atiku stated.

“The APC, as we all know, is a deeply unpopular party that has consistently failed to prioritize the interests of the people.”

He further emphasized that the people of Ondo State now have the opportunity to reject the APC’s governance by voting for Ajayi. “Hon. Ajayi of the PDP represents a clear choice for the people to tell the APC that enough is enough,” Atiku said.

Atiku also reassured PDP members and supporters that the party leadership would provide all the necessary support to ensure the election results reflect the true will of the electorate.

He issued a stern warning to election officials and volunteers, affirming that the PDP would not tolerate any electoral malpractices in the Ondo governorship election.

The former Vice-President concluded by urging the people of Ondo State to come out in large numbers to vote, ensuring their ballots count in the critical election.
