Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has reportedly submitted a petition to the UK Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, requesting his consideration of the secessionist movement in Nigeria.

According to SaharaReporters, the petition’s content remains confidential, but insiders indicate that it centers around the ongoing agitation for the Yoruba Nation. Sunday Igboho submitted the petition on behalf of Professor Adebanji Akintoye, the leader of the Yoruba Nation movement, on Saturday.

“The petition is primarily focused on the Yoruba Nation agitation,” a source revealed, underscoring the confidential nature of its contents.

Sunday Igboho was accompanied by several key figures within the movement, including the Diaspora Youth Leader, Prophet Ologunoluwa; Vice President of Ifeladun Apapo, Fatai Ogunribido; General Secretary of Yoruba World Media, Alhaja Adeyeye; and Paul Odebiyi, a member of the Yoruba Nation Movement.

The Yoruba Nation movement is seeking the immediate attention and intervention of the UK Prime Minister and his government in their efforts to establish an independent Yoruba nation predominantly controlled by the indigenous Yoruba people.

In related developments, several reports indicate that Yoruba historian and key figure in the push for Oodua Nation’s independence, Professor Banji Akintoye, had previously accused the Nigerian government of attempting to coerce Sunday Igboho into withdrawing from the ongoing agitations.

“There has been significant pressure on Igboho to step back, but he remains committed to the cause,” sources close to the movement said.
