ABUJA – It was a beehive of activities at the induction ceremony making the 20th anniversary of the Insitute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC).

The epoch making event which was held recently at the International Conference Centre, Abuja with the theme: ICMC at 20: A trajectory of mediation practice and grassroots conflict transformation in Nigeria.

Speaking on the theme of the Induction ceremony, Dr. M. Ozonnia Ojielo stated that mediation practice does not occur in a vacuum but it has continued to create peaceable societies and has helped to manage differences and conflicts.

Dr. Ojielo opined further that dialogue and mediation practice should be encouraged and embraced should in case of business breech and in settling community issues rather than visiting the courts.

He said, “conflict prevention, reconciliation and dialogue approaches have only been partially successful in addressing these imbalances, as these efforts have tendered to be siloed and conducted separately from other efforts to improve economic, political and social governance.”

The high point of the induction ceremony was the decoration and presentation of chartered certificates to certified Mediators and Conciliators among which includes; Alhaji (Asiwaju) Nurudeen Dapo Wahab, FAAPM, JP, AICMC, Chief Executive Officer of Sparkle Cheery International Consultancy Services for his giant strides towards ensuring that peace and love is maintained in society most especially at Ifedara Opeji Area CDC at Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State where he is currently serving as the Chairman.

It would be recalled that Alhaji Dapo Wahab in December 2018 was decorated by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command as PEACE AMBASSADOR.

Among others who bagged the ICMC Associate Certificate was the Chairman of Fanol RDS Products Limited, the immediate Past President of Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Current 1st Deputy President of Ogun State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alhaji Wasiu Babatunde Olaleye, AICMC

Others includes; Mrs. Olasumbo Odugbemi, Olufemi Allen, Omilani Akorede, Owolabi Ayodele, Motunrayo Joseph, Ibrahim Atanda, Funmilayo Kalejaiye, Aliu Mutairu, Yinka Fasina, Oseni Akerele, Talabi Israel, Stella Findele, Titilope Otayemi – Osikoya, Olusegun Adesanya, Oluwakemi Somoye among others.
