The usually tranquil neighborhood of Apete in Ibadan, Oyo State, was shattered on Sunday evening when a middle-aged man, identified as Alfa Ahmed, allegedly slaughtered his grandfather and uncle in a suspected money ritual.

“It’s a heinous crime that has left us all in shock,” said an eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous.

“The suspect took advantage of his grandfather’s visual impairment and his uncle’s poor health to commit this atrocity.”

According to sources, the victims lived with the suspect at the back of a popular market in Apete, where the incident occurred between 6 pm and 6:30 pm. “The whole place was tense, and people were alerted to the incident,” said another source.

The motive behind the gruesome murder is believed to be a money ritual, with unconfirmed reports suggesting that the suspect intended to use body parts for the ritual.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident and assured that investigations are underway.

“We are working to unravel the circumstances surrounding this heinous crime, and updates will be provided accordingly,” he stated.
