Abdulmumini Otan approached the Area Court at Centre-Igboro in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday, seeking a divorce from his wife of 36 years.

Otan expressed his desire to end the marriage, while his wife, Zainab Abdulmumini, requested the court’s time to resolve their differences.

Zainab explained that she had been seeking forgiveness for an issue that occurred between them but had not received it.

Despite the husband’s wish for a divorce, she pleaded with the court not to dissolve the marriage and instead allow them time to address their issues.

Presiding Judge Hammad Ajumonbi granted the couple an opportunity to reconcile, emphasizing the importance of room for reconciliation when either party expresses interest.

The judge advised Zainab to persuade her husband to forgive her and continue with the marriage.

The case has been adjourned until March 25 for a report on settlement.
