The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has responded to rumors claiming she organized a National Prayer event, categorically denying the reports.

In a statement issued on Saturday by her spokesperson, Busola Kukoyi, she clarified that the circulating news on various media platforms was misleading and unfounded.

“The news circulating on some conventional and social media platforms is unfounded and misleading. Consequently, anyone who has come across the purported news of a joint National Prayer for Nigeria should disregard it as false,” the statement read.

While she strongly advocates for prayer, Tinubu emphasized that prayer should be a personal, voluntary act, highlighting that it is the responsibility of all Nigerians, regardless of their background, to pray for the country.

“While the First Lady, a Christian and strong advocate of prayer, believes that prayer is an act that must be done willingly, conscientiously, and correctly, she also believes that praying for Nigeria is the responsibility of every Nigerian, regardless of religious belief, political affiliation, tribe, or tongue,” the statement continued.

She further advised the public to always verify any information related to her or her office through official channels, urging caution against misinformation.
