The fatal incident reportedly took place on September 6, 2024, at approximately 9:10 p.m.

In a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, it was disclosed that officers were alerted by concerned residents through an emergency call.

“We received reports indicating that a group of four unknown gunmen were seen pursuing a young man along Abeokuta Street, Okokomaiko,” Hundeyin said.

The attackers allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim, aiming at his head, torso, and legs, before swiftly escaping from the scene.

“Upon receiving the distress call at around 9:30 p.m., our anti-crime unit was immediately deployed to the location,” Hundeyin explained. “At the scene, they met Ms. Vivian, the mother of the victim, who confirmed that the deceased was her 20-year-old son. The victim, whose name is being withheld for security purposes, had suffered several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead.”

The authorities documented the scene by taking photographs, and the body was transferred to the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Mortuary in Yaba for further investigation and autopsy.
