The six governors of the South-West geo-political zone met in Lagos on Monday to appoint a new chairman for the South-West Governors’ Forum. After a three-hour meeting at the Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, they elected Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State as the new chairman.

Governor Sanwo-Olu succeeded the late Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, who previously held the position.

The meeting was attended by all six governors of the South-West states, who gathered at the Lagos House by 12 noon on Monday.

Although the meeting addressed the ongoing minimum wage controversy between the Federal Government and Organised Labour, no decision was made.

The governors decided to await the outcome of negotiations between the two parties before taking a stance on the issue.

Governor Sanwo-Olu briefed state house correspondents after the meeting, announcing his appointment as the new chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum.
