In a brief ceremony at the headquarters of the 21 armored brigade, Maiduguri, the Nigerian army released 983 suspected Boko Haram members who were found innocent after necessary investigations.

In his address Governor Zulum expressed his appreciation to the Nigerian military and all other security agencies for their efforts in maintaining law and order in Borno state.

Moreover, Governor Zulum reiterated his administration’s commitment to ending the decade-long insurgency in the state. He assured that Government of Borno state would support the federal government’s initiatives of using a non-kinetic approach in ending the insurgency.

Earlier, the theatre commander operation lafiya dole Maj. Gen. Olusegun Adeniyi stated that as part of the military effort towards actualization peace in the northeast, the military has embarked on many strategies which include offensive, defensive and subsidiary operations. He further explained that the product of such operations have led to the arrest of confirm and suspected Boko Haram terrorists and their sympathisers for investigations.

Mr Adeniyi further stated that these categories of detainees are screened, investigated and cleared at the joint investigation centre, therefore, the military is presenting a total of 983 screened, investigated and cleared suspects to the Borno state Government for rehabilitation and reintegration back to the communities.
