Early this morning, Governor Biodun Oyebanji held an emergency meeting with the heads of security agencies in Ekiti state and they accompanied him on the condolence visits to the affected communities.

The governor sympathised with leaders and indigenes of the affected communities whom he addressed at their respective palaces at Esun-Ekiti and Imojo-Ekiti.

The governor noted that the two murdered monarchs were respected traditional rulers who had records of selfless service to their respective towns, and he pledged that the state government would collaborate with relevant agencies to ensure that their killers are apprehended and punished for the despicable crime.

The Governor thanked the people of the towns for refraining from violence while assuring them that the sacrifices of the monarchs would not be in vain.

Governor Oyebanji promised to collaborate with traditional rulers in order to ensure that the state becomes unbearable for criminal elements. He also directed that adequate security should be provided for the third monarch who escaped the attacks yesterday, the Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba.

During the visits, he also relayed the condolences of the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The governor assured the citizens that the President has given instructions to relevant security agencies to apprehend the murderers and rescue the kidnapped pupils and school staff who were also kidnapped yesterday.

Meanwhile, community leaders who spoke during the Governor’s visit to Esun-Ekiti alleged that the killing of their monarch, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola might have been an assassination. They, therefore, urged the governor to ensure that justice is done in the case.

Community leaders in Imojo-Ekiti hailed the Governor for his timely response and the visit. They also thanked Governor Oyebanji for his decision to take over the education and upbringing of the late monarch’s five young children who were also present during the Governor’s visit.
