Governor, of Ekiti State Mr. Biodun Oyebanji has commended civil servants in the state for giving their best to the service of the state inspite of some challenges confronting them.

Oyebanji, who gave the commendation on Wednesday during an unscheduled visit to the State Secretariat, Ekiti State Teaching Hospital and the Ministry of Works and Transport, said he decided to embark on the visit to have first hand knowledge of their situation and come up with ideas on how to make the environment more conducive.

The Governor, who was accompanied by the Head of Service, Barr. Bamidele Agbede, the Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode and some top government officials visited the Office of Establishment and Training; Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; Ministry of Education, Science and Technology; Teaching Service Commission and Board for Technical and Adult Education among others at the Secretariat Complex.

The Governor, who was astounded with the way papers were scattered in most of the offices visited, said government would commence digitalisation of office work in order to make it less cumbersome.

He also said his administration would refurbish some of the unserviceable vehicles as well as give office buildings some facelift.

“I decided to visit the government offices this morning to familiarize myself with the workers and to also encourage them. Yesterday, I met with the Permanent Secretaries to share the vision of this administration with them. So, this is the follow up to my meeting with the Permanent Secretaries yesterday.

“Just to see the entire staff, to see the condition under which they are working and to also encourage them to do more. And I decided to go myself to have first-hand view of what they are going through and it has been an eye opener and we will go back and sit down and see how we can make their environment more conducive.

“But I must also thank them for delivering their best to the state inspite of the various challenges they are going through.

At the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), the Governor, who was moved with compassion had to settle hospital bills of no fewer than 10 patients who begged him for financial assistance, having being stranded at the hospital following their inability to offset their bills.

Governor Oyebanji, who trekked the length and breadth of the Secretariat, EKSUTH and Ministry of Works entered virtually all offices and interacted with workers at their duty posts.
