Governor Ademola Adeleke has highlighted his administration’s commitment to driving sustainable growth in Osun State, unveiling a 2025 budget totaling Three Hundred and Ninety Billion, Twenty-Eight Million, Two Hundred and Seventy-Seven Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty Naira (₦390,028,277,740.00).
Presenting the budget to the State House of Assembly, Governor Adeleke stressed the government’s dedication to strengthening sectors vital to the state’s economic and social progress.
In his address, the Governor announced, “The total size of the Budget 2025 is Three Hundred and Ninety Billion, Twenty-Eight Million, Two Hundred and Seventy-Seven Thousand, Seven Hundred and Forty Naira Only (₦390,028,277,740.00).”
He outlined a balanced approach to spending, allocating One Hundred and Forty-Four Billion, Two Hundred and Thirty-One Million, One Hundred and Eighty-Three Thousand, Eight Hundred Naira (₦144,231,183,800.00) for capital projects and Two Hundred and Forty-Five Billion, Seven Hundred and Ninety-Seven Million, Ninety-Three Thousand, Nine Hundred and Forty Naira (₦245,797,093,940.00) for recurrent expenses.
Governor Adeleke detailed the breakdown of the recurrent expenditure, emphasizing that personnel costs, including salaries, allowances, pensions, and gratuities, are set at One Hundred and Two Billion, Eight Hundred and Ninety-Five Million, Eight Hundred and Twenty-One Thousand, Ten Naira (₦102,895,821,010.00).
He confirmed that the balance of One Hundred and Forty-Two Billion, Nine Hundred and One Million, Two Hundred and Seventy-Two Thousand, Nine Hundred and Thirty Naira (₦142,901,272,930.00) would cover other recurrent needs.
The revenue projections include the state’s share of the FAAC (Federal Account Allocation Committee), totaling One Hundred and Ninety-Six Billion, Seven Hundred and Seventy-Eight Million, Nine Hundred and Seventy-Five Thousand, One Hundred and Eight Naira (₦196,778,975,180.00), alongside Independent Revenue projected at One Hundred and Nine Billion, Eight Hundred and Seventy Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Two Thousand, Eight Hundred and Thirty Naira (₦109,870,932,830.00).
Developmental funds from partners contribute an additional Fifty-Three Billion, Three Hundred and Seventy-Seven Million, Two Hundred and Forty-Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Ten Naira (₦53,377,244,610.00).
Governor Adeleke highlighted significant progress achieved in the past two years, promising further details in the upcoming midterm anniversary. “Our administration has reduced the rural healthcare access gap by 40% through the rehabilitation of over 200 primary healthcare centers, and healthcare access for pensioners has risen from less than 10% to 90% within two years,” he explained.
He further stated, “We closed the road infrastructure gap by 50%, boosted agricultural mechanization from 0% to 35%, and built a digital economy policy structure reaching 55%. Integrity in public service is now at 70%, up from 25%, marking strong governance reforms.”
The Governor outlined additional achievements, such as expanding local content to 75%, advancing climate initiatives to over 70%, and increasing financial support for cooperative societies.
“We built Ilesa University to over 90% completion, redeveloped Odeomu Cooperative College into an HND institution, expanded Osun’s Google mapping coverage from 20% to 65%, and launched phased bursary awards for students reaching 40% coverage,” he said.
In closing, Governor Adeleke reassured lawmakers of his administration’s commitment to transparency and prudent financial management.
“Osun State has not taken any loan, whether external or domestic,” he affirmed. “We rely solely on the effective management of available resources to meet the expectations of our people, and we remain committed to achieving this goal with God’s guidance.”
