Ogun State House of Assembly has acknowledged the receipt of the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun’s correspondence indicating his intention to present the Year 2024 Appropriation Bill before the State lawmakers on Thursday, 30th November, 2023.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo who read the Governor’s letter dated 27th November, 2023 at the plenary, noted that the event would take place at 10.00am prompt.
The letter partly reads, ” in accordance with the provisions of Section 121 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), I write to inform the Honorable House that I intend to present the Ogun State Year 2024 Budget proposal to the State House of Assembly on Thursday, 30th November, 2023 at 10:00am”
Also, Speaker Oluomo acknowledged another correspondence from the Governor, requesting for the approval of the revised 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) by the State House of Assembly.
“In reference to relevant sections of the Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Law, 2020 (as amended), we have revised the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (i.e 2024-2026 MTEF) for the State. Consequently on the above, I therefore seek your consideration and approval of the attached revised 2024-2026 State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), so that the process of planning and budgeting for year 2024 and the outer years of 2025 and 2026 can continue in earnest”, the letter reads.
In another development, following the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Establishments and Public Service Matters, the Speaker has invited the State Head of Service, Mr. Peter Fagbohun to appear before the lawmakers tomorrow, Wednesday, 29th November, 2023 by 2pm on issues bordering on establishment matters.
According to Oluomo, the invitation was consequent upon the report of the House Committee on Establishment and Public Service Matters to resolve some grey areas.
