Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has taken over as the new Chairman of the Southern Governors Forum.
The appointment was made at a meeting held at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, Ogun State, which lasted for about four hours.
Governor Abiodun succeeds former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who passed away recently. Governor Charles Soludo has also been appointed as the Vice Chairman of the forum.
Speaking after his appointment, Governor Abiodun assured that he would reposition the administration of the forum to better serve the interests of the member states.
He also pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor.
The meeting, which was attended by governors from the southern regions of Nigeria, aimed to address pressing issues affecting the region and forge a united front in tackling common challenges.
The Southern Governors Forum is a platform for governors from the southern regions of Nigeria to come together and discuss issues of common interest.
The forum has been at the forefront of championing regional integration and development in the country.
