The new Oloja Ekun of Igbesa, Oba Azeez Akinde has been charged to take advantage of the royal throne to enhance the standard of living of the people of Igbesa and its environs.
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun made the call while presenting Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to the monarch in Igbesa, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the State.
Governor Abiodun said Monarchs are held in high esteem by their subjects, based on their unique position as principal agents for social mobilization, community development, and effective governance at the grassroots.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Afolabi Afuape stated that the present government is ensuring that peace, tranquility, and orderliness reign in communities across the State, commending how the paramount ruler in Yewaland had been directing affairs in the area as President of Obas in Council.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Hon. Sheriff Musa represented by the Vice-Chairman, Mrs. Olatunbosun Animashaun said the installation of the new Oloja Ekun in Igbesa would contribute to the development of the area.
In his remark, a member House of Representatives, Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele maintained that the choice of the new Oloja Ekun no doubt would bring about the desired development to Igbesaland, calling for the cooperation of all sons and daughters of the town with the monarch for necessary development.
In his acceptance speech, Oba Akinde expressed gratitude to the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government, promising to remain a progressive partner in the effort to move the State to a greater height.
