Ogun State Governor, His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, has appointed two new Permanent Secretaries as part of ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of the state’s Civil/Public Service.
The appointments were made following a thorough selection process based on merit, professionalism, and seniority, as outlined in Section 208 (c) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The announcement was made through a statement signed by the State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya. According to Onasanya, the Governor’s decision aligns with his commitment to revitalizing the Civil/Public Service of Ogun State.
He emphasized that the appointees were chosen from a pool of Directors who had successfully completed the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme, designed to prepare Directors for the position of Permanent Secretary.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are Dr. Ogunsanya Wellington Olaitan, a Consultant in Surgery, and Mr. Abdul Suraj Olubamiro, a Physiotherapist. Both are at Grade Level 17 within the Civil Service.
Dr. Ogunsanya, who began his career in the Ogun State Civil Service on June 2, 1992, was previously the Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics (DPRS) at the Ogun State Hospitals Management Board.
He holds a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Ibadan, earned in 1989.
Mr. Olubamiro, who joined the Ogun State Civil Service on May 20, 1991, was the State Director of Physiotherapy and Medical Rehabilitation (DPMR).
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of Lagos, obtained in 1990, along with a Post Graduate Degree in Planning, Research, and Statistics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, completed in 2011.
The new Permanent Secretaries have been urged to demonstrate dedication, diligence, and selflessness in their new roles, striving for excellence and working in collaboration with other stakeholders to achieve the objectives of Ogun State’s “Building Our Future Together” Agenda under Governor Abiodun’s visionary leadership.
A swearing-in ceremony for the appointees will be conducted by Governor Abiodun at a later date, according to the statement from Mr. Onasanya.
