The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has advised Edo State Governor-elect Senator Monday Okpebholo to prioritize governance over probing his predecessor, Governor Godwin Obaseki.

Ganduje emphasized the importance of forward-thinking leadership, urging Okpebholo to focus on delivering the party’s manifesto and advancing the socio-economic development of Edo State.

Ganduje shared this counsel on Thursday during Okpebholo’s visit to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) to express gratitude for the support he received during the election.

The APC Chairman encouraged the Governor-elect to avoid dwelling on the past administration’s actions, remarking, “You should not focus on the previous administration. Look forward, don’t look back, and don’t waste your time fighting the person you took over from. There is no need. A progressive government does not have time for that.”

He continued, “Think forward and be an action governor. During the campaigns, you were an action candidate, and now you are an action governor. We believe it. We believe you will succeed and make the people of our winning state proud.”

Ganduje further assured Okpebholo of the APC’s support, noting that the party is ready to assist him in governance.

He highlighted the establishment of a progressive institute within the party, which will provide training and support to local government personnel, helping to align the government’s agenda with the people’s needs.

Okpebholo, expressing his gratitude to Ganduje and the APC leadership, acknowledged the challenging nature of the election and thanked President Tinubu for ensuring peace during the voting process.

“For me, the victory is something we in Edo State rejoice about because a new dawn has come to the Edo people. A new dawn has risen,” Okpebholo stated.
