Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has said the video of Governor Umar Ganduje pocketing dollars is ‘disputed’.
Ize-Iyamu made the comment while reacting to the screening of the video in Edo state billboards. The APC candidate challenged Governor Godwin Obaseki to reveal how much he spent to procure the PDP ticket.
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Edo governorship election, has challenged Governor Godwin Obaseki to disclose the amount he spent on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket. Ize-Iyamu was reacting to the screening of videos in Edo state involving Kano state governor, Dr Umar Ganduje, pocketing thousands of dollars from a contractor.
The videos had gone viral in 2018 after it was published by an online newspaper, Daily Nigerian.
Governor Ganduje was seen in the viral video pocketing dollars in 2018.
The APC candidate accused the Edo state governor of using the videos to distract electorates in Edo state.
Ize-Iyamu, a Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor, also described the viral video as ‘disputed.’ He charged Obaseki to open up on the amount of dollars he spent to secure the PDP’s ticket.
In a statement issued by his spokesman, John Mayaki, Ize-Iyamu asked Governor Obaseki to reveal the amount of state funds he allegedly wasted on his ‘Oshiomhole-Must-Go’ project.
Part of the statement read: “It is unfortunate that Obaseki, the outgoing governor of Edo state, has continued in his irresponsible ways, chiefs of which include the abuse of office and utilisation of state purse and agencies to pursue personal ambitions.
“In a desperate move to maintain relevance—as his name had been fast leaving the lips of Edo people, and his significance fading in their minds—he has compelled the state agency to display a disputed video involving Governor Ganduje.”
Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Edo state scheduled for September, the scandalous video was put on a big billboard where it can be seen by commuters and motorists.
A social activist, Deji Adeyanju shared the video on his Twitter account on Thursday, July 9.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state recently responded to Governor Ganduje’s recent jibe at him.
In what started as a political jibe highlighting the campaign into the Edo state gubernatorial election, Governor Ganduje had said that his Rivers counterpart will be “isolated” till the end of the election. But in his reaction, Wike who is the chairman of Obaseki campaign council for Edo election said “antics and shenanigans” cannot distract PDP from taking over the south-south state.
The Rivers governor said Ganduje should be the one in the isolation centre because he was caught red-handed pocketing dollars in his babaringa.
