FUNAAB signs MoU with ABEOCCIMA to boost food production

The Vice-Chancellor, of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde has said that the University is open to doing business that will foster development with relevant stakeholders and private entities.

The Vice-Chancellor made this pronouncement as the University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Abeokuta Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture in the area of Agribusiness.

The Signing of the MoU is another bold step by the University Management to revitalize agriculture and boost the capital base of the institution.

The business meeting was held at the Commerce House, beside Government House, Oke- Igbein, Abeokuta.

Speaking during the meeting, the President of ABEOCCIMA, Otunba Babs Adesanya welcomed everybody who witnessed the occasion.

He noted that the journey that birthed the historic day started 2 years ago.

Otunba Adesanya, the ABEOCCIMA President said FUNAAB is a specialized institution of agriculture, while ABEOCCIMA is an institution embracing four different areas of the economy, Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture.

The President further said that, that collaborating with FUNAAB will bring into reality a synergy between the researchers (FUNAAB) and the businessmen (ABEOCCIMA) thereby bringing a turnaround in cashew production and processing, palm-wine production, exporting, and livestock production.

The immediate past president, ABEOCCIMA, Sir (Chief) Jare Oyesola, promised a robust output and assured ABEOCCIMA will not disappoint in achieving the set-out goals.

He emphasized that FUNAAB must partner with the Private sector for them to feel their impact.

He thanked ABEOCCIMA for the timely collaboration saying “We are now awake, ready to explore all options available to us”.

He promised the Management of ABEOCCIMA, integrity, commitment, honesty and hardwork in all their dealings with them.

Also at the event is Iyalode of Egbaland, Chief (Mrs.) Alaba Lawson who on her part lauded FUNAAB, saying “The special visit will be in our archives forever ”

In attendance were, the DVC (D), Prof. Kola Adebayo; Acting Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga; Director IFSERAR, Prof. (Mrs.) Alaba Jolaosho; Director AMREC, Prof. Jacob Olaoye and other top officers of the University.
