Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Enugu State, has raised alarm over the escalating fuel prices in Nigeria, warning that the country is at risk of widespread hardship and potential famine.
Speaking during the commissioning of Blessed Omemma Oil and Gas Limited’s new filling station in Abakpa, Enugu East Local Government Area, Fr. Mbaka emphasized the urgency of prayers to avert further suffering.
The clergyman noted that Nigeria is already grappling with hunger, a situation that could worsen into a full-blown famine if the current economic challenges are not urgently addressed.
“What we are facing now is hunger, but if we’re not careful, we could face famine,” Fr. Mbaka said, stressing the importance of immediate and proactive measures to alleviate the suffering of the Nigerian people.
He further urged Nigerians to be strategic with their finances, advising them to invest wisely rather than simply storing money in banks where it could lose value due to the country’s economic instability.
“I encourage people to invest their money wisely; don’t leave it in the bank where it will keep devaluing,” Fr. Mbaka added, highlighting the need for financial prudence amidst the ongoing economic challenges.
Fr. Mbaka also called on the government to take decisive action to address the fuel price hike, stating that the government has the power to resolve the crisis.
“The government knows what they need to do about the fuel hike. One solution from them can overcome these toxic situations, and that’s why I emphasize the power of prayer,” he asserted.
The Blessed Omemma Oil and Gas Ultra-Modern Station, owned by Chief Mathias Ukaigwe, provides a range of refined petroleum products, including Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), and Dual-Purpose Kerosene (DPK), all offered at competitive prices.
This new facility aims to meet the growing demand for petroleum products in the region.
Chinedu Anyaso, Chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Enugu Unit Depot, commended the establishment of the facility, noting that it has created employment opportunities for the local youth and improved access to petroleum products.
“This filling station will help ensure the availability and accessibility of petroleum products for residents of Enugu East Local Government and beyond,” Anyaso stated, emphasizing the positive impact the station will have on both the local and national economy.
