Protocol…

With the abundance of grace provided by our Creator to be alive today, I want to welcome everyone, beginning from our elders, leaders, other dignitaries and distinguished guests to this remarkable occasion in the history of our news platform.

Distinguished guests, gentlemen of the press, ladies and gentlemen, there is no doubt about it that you will all agree with me that today’s event is unique because it is the maiden edition of Tropic Reporters Choice Award in the series organized to commemorate our 4th Anniversary and also to celebrate and honour with awards some distinguished individuals who have made tremendous impacts in the society through their chosen careers, worthy Nigerians that are contributing their quota to the socio-economic development and growth of our dear country, NIGERIA in terms of job creation, youth empowerment, community services, security and a host of others.

Permit me to sincerely appreciate members on all Tropic Reporters social media platforms, most especially our over 256 members on WhatsApp comprising of high caliber of personalities.

Our dear guests, I want to say that with love from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate all those who accepted to join the platform, my sincerest appreciation goes to our elders who remain glued and steadfast on the platform for authentic, verified and reliable news and we promise to always continue to promote the ethics of journalism to the best international standard.

This maiden award presentation would also be flavored with a lecture. “The Role of Community Journalism in Nation Building” This theme was considered as it covers wider topics, as community journalism concentrates on the effect it has on local readers.

Definitely, the choice of our Guest Speaker, Mr. Irebami Soyinka, Lecturer, Department of Mass Communication, McPherson University, Ogun State. I am sure all of us here will learn something new from our speaker.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, I will not like to take much of our time with long speech because we have a wide ground to cover at this event today, but I will not end my speech without expressing our appreciation to our sponsors and media partners who have in one way or the other made this epoch making event a success.

Permit me to say, Ubuntu – a Zulu word that means “I am, because you are”.

At this juncture, let me once again welcome all of us to this august occasion. Thank you and may Jehovah God guide us right in our activities today.
Thank you.
