The members of the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure led by Hon. Abayomi Fasunwa has clarified that the amounts said to have been expended on road projects were spent by the immediate past administration in the State.
Fasuwa, who gave the clarification while leading other members of the Committee on the monitoring of road projects in Ogun East Senatorial District of the State, noted that the ongoing oversight of the State lawmakers is meant to cover January to June this year.
According to him, ” having visited all these road projects, we realized that a lot of works need to be done. We realised that we still need a lot of monitoring. Basically, I want to put it on records that our oversight function and all figures the public have been seeing are between January and June, 2019, nothing of such figure was spent by the current administration.
We’ve seen most of the contractors on site, there’s a lot they need to do, we’ve corrected some and we believe that by the next time we are coming for oversight there will be an improvement on it, he remarked.
He lauded Governor Dapo Abiodun for setting up the project review Committee to review the pending road contracts, while pleading for the completion of those projects that have direct benefit on the people of the State.
” I will like to say that the Governor has done the right thing, going the right direction by trying to set up a committee to review all the pending contracts. There are a lot of those projects that are of benefit to the populace. I know when the Committee finishes its assignment, they will come up with those roads and I want to appeal to our Governor to please help us swing into action and help complete the projects”, he pleaded.
