The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN) has directed all its members to stop air play of all King Wasiu Ayinde Mashal songs on their programmes.
Recalled that the Association President on Friday lampooned the Fuji musician for allegedly brutalizing an Ogun State based broadcaster, Wole Sorunke, who is known as MC Murphy.
Tropic reporters earlier reported that, Sorunke, a popular radio presenter and event anchor, was allegedly beaten and brutalised by the fuji maestro and his boys on Thursday night at the 60th birthday party of the Olu of Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo.
The Association president, Desmond Nwachukwu described Wasiu Ayinde as a product of grace who acts as god.
“We must put a stop to the air play of all Wasiu Ayinde Marshal’s songs on our programs”
“All chairmen especially in South West are to ensure strict compliance, they are also directed to convey our position to the general manager/head of stations in their chapters”. He conclude
While responding to an interview by BBC Yoruba with Bayo Olusoju and Rasheed Kunle, the President asked it’s members to ignore the manipulation of facts and the choice of words by Kunle Rasheed, he said that the part where Bayo described FIBAN as “senseless people” caught his attention, saying it’s height of insult to the association.
“While I plead that we ignore Kunle Rasheed’s manipulation of facts and choice of words on the ground of his very minuts understanding of public relations, the BBC interview where Bayo described FIBAN as a group of “senseless people” caught my attention”.
“FIBAN is a group of sensible, matured, successful professionals who rate and value above all things, their integrity and public image”.
The President maintained that, at the expiration of 72 hours ultimatum, member will mobilize to the palace of Alaafin Oyo where formal letter requesting strip of Mayegun’s title from the Fuji star will be submitted.
“At the expiration of the 72hours ultimatum, we shall mobilize our members and our fans to the palace of Òyò where we will formally submit our letter requesting His Imperial Majesty to strip Wasiu Ayinde Marshal of the Mayegun Of Yorubaland’s title over his public conduct”.
While commenting on the alleged one hundred thousand naira collected by the MC Murphy, the president said MC forcefully collected the money for the fear of his life, saying any attempt to blackmail him is dead on arrival.
“As I conclude, may u state very clearly that Murphy took the one hundred thousand naira that was forcefully given to him for the fear of his life. So any calculated attempt to blackmail him with it , is dead on arrival”.
