Vice President Kashim Shettima has summoned an urgent meeting with key stakeholders to tackle the persistent fuel scarcity plaguing the nation.

The meeting, held on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, who is currently on an official visit to China, included Minister of State for Petroleum Heineken Lokpobiri, NNPCL CEO Mele Kyari, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

Following the discussions, Lokpobiri addressed reporters at the State House, reassuring the public that the fuel crisis would soon be alleviated.

Lokpobiri assured Nigerians that fuel will be available throughout the country by this weekend.

He emphasized that the NNPC has sufficient fuel supplies to meet national demand, urging Nigerians to remain calm.

Lokpobiri also highlighted that increased availability of petroleum products would foster competition, driving down prices.

He further clarified that the government was not responsible for recent fuel price hikes, aiming to alleviate concerns and reassure the public of prompt resolution.

“The administration remains committed to addressing the challenges and ensuring that the supply chain can meet the demands of all Nigerians in the coming days,” the Minister stated.
