FG Launches Automated Passport Application For Nigerians

Following the activation of the automated passport application portal today, Nigerians at home and abroad can now go online to apply for passports without interface with personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

The federal government had last year through the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced that automated passport application process would commence by January 8, this year.

Personnel of the NIS have been going through intensive trainings for the flag off of the exercise.
According to the spokesman of the NIS, Dr Dotun Aridegbe, as at Sunday, January 7, some of the personnel were yet undergoing the training programmes at the Service Headquarters and other designated places.

The Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Minister of Interior, Babatunde Alao told newsmen that the activation of the automated application processes commenced on Monday, January 8, noting that there was no formal event on it by the minister.

He confirmed that applicants can now go online and apply for the documents.
