Federal Government Declares June 12 Public Holiday for Democracy Day

Abuja, Nigeria – The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12, 2024, will be a public holiday in commemoration of Democracy Day.

This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

The holiday honors the struggles and sacrifices made by Nigerians in the country’s journey towards democratic governance.

The Minister congratulated citizens and encouraged reflection on the nation’s progress, urging unity, peace, and steadfastness in upholding democratic principles.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is committed to driving positive reforms, reviving the economy, and enhancing national security.

As Nigeria marks this significant day, the government acknowledges the progress made and looks forward to a brighter future for democracy in the country.

All federal offices, schools, and institutions will be closed on June 12 in observance of the public holiday.
