According to a statement on Friday by police spokesperson Josephine Adeh, the deployment aims to ensure public safety, protect protesters, and prevent the protest from being hijacked by non-state actors.

The statement also mentioned that there will be raids on identified black spots, uncompleted buildings, and shanties, as well as stop-and-search operations in collaboration with other security agencies.
