The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has appointed Mr. Olalere Olayinka as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media.
This appointment, announced with immediate effect, aims to enhance communication between the FCT Administration and the public.
In a statement released late Friday by Anthony Ogunleye, Director of Press in the Minister’s office, Olayinka was described as a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in journalism, public relations, and media management.
Ogunleye noted that Olayinka’s career has included a variety of roles across both public and private sectors.
The statement highlighted that Olayinka’s appointment is expected to bring “a wealth of expertise” to the FCT Administration. His responsibilities will include developing strategies to increase public awareness of government activities and facilitate stronger engagement between the FCT Administration and the residents of Abuja.
Our correspondent reported that Olayinka currently serves as the CEO of Our Peoples FM, Ado-Ekiti, and is also the publisher of Wazobia Reporters Online. His prior experience includes serving as the Special Assistant on Public Communications to the Governor of Ekiti State from 2014 to 2018.
Born on October 1, 1972, in Okemesi, Ekiti State, Olayinka holds a diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba, Lagos. His background and dedication in media roles are expected to significantly contribute to his new role within the FCT Administration.
As Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, the statement added, “Mr. Olayinka will oversee the development of communication strategies to improve public awareness of government activities and facilitate stronger engagement between the FCT Administration and the public.”
