FCE Abeokuta Management Assures Students of Adequate Health Insurance

Following the sad news that rented the air on Sunday about a student of the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Miss. Akinsanya Damilola a 300L Primary Education student which involved in a ghastly Auto accident with multiple injuries.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, Dr. Kehinde Badaru has affirmed that all students of the institution are entitled to the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), whether on session or during the holiday.

Badaru who disclosed this during a telephone interview with Tropic Reporters Correspondent said as regards one of the student of the institution who was on Sunday 29th March 2020 involved in an auto crash at Agosasa and has been hospitalized into a private hospital in Agosasa, ipokia local government.

The Dean added that the management of the institution has been informed about her situation and that they’ve put all mechanism in motion to render all necessary assistant concerning her treatment, adding that the NHIS covered all the students of the institution and that could reduce the cost of her treatment.

According to the Dean, “The school management is fully aware of what happened and we have stepped in for her treatment because NHIS covered all students of the college irrespective of whether they we are on session or break”.

He stressed further that the management have not visited the victim yet due to the lockdown order in the state but the NHIS code have been sent to her so she could get a very good discount for her treatment.

Dr. Badaru noted that the Director of School Clinic has been informed and believed that all the necessary things needed for her quick recovery would be put in place.

On their part, the leadership of Student’s Union Government of the institution led by the President, Comrade Joshua David had earlier paid a solidarity visit to the victim at the Olutunu Hospital, Agosasa, Ipokia Local Government, Ogun State.

Comrade David in his words explained that they have tried all they could to raise an undisclosed amount to support her treatment.

“In our efforts as students’ union body, we tried to raise reasonable amount of money to assist and other students also contributed to safe his life when the accident happened”. Joshua said.

In a monitored conversation with the accident victim, Akinsanya Damilola explained that she had received the NHIS code as promised by the institution clinic and has since been transferred to General Hospital, Sango Ota, Ogun State.

She however appreciated the school management for their prompt response and attention as well as the gesture received from the Students Union leadership as well as all students for supporting her with cash and prayers.
