FASAKIN SUES FOR FARE PLAY, AS 2020 BATCH ‘A’ STREAM I SPORTING EVENT OPENS IN ABIA

The State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps , NYSC Abia, Lady Bona Fasakin has called for fare play and avoidance of rough tackles by player during the 2020 Batch ‘A’ orientation course inter platoon football and volleyball events.

The coordinator made the call on Saturday 14th March 2020 at the opening and kick-off ceremony of the sporting event which held at the camp parade ground.

In a pep talk with the players before the kick-off, the coordinator warned against rough tackles by players during the matches and observed that sporting event during the orientation course will be a success if at the end of the day no corps member was injured.

She therefore urged the players to avoid rough tackles, saying ‘ if you miss the ball, miss the legs’.

Highlight of the event was the official kick off of the volleyball and football events taking at the volleyball court and football field respectively, by the state coordinator herself. With the State Coordinator at the event was the Camp Director, Ben Sam Njoku, the Camp Commandant, Major RO Ejoor, the Resident Officer I, Mrs Grace Effiong, The AD Platoon Supervision, Mrs Akpaidu Eduok, Head of Police, ASP Metu Chimezie, Head Civil Defence, ASC TI Olise, Head of Man O war, Mr. Oguntuji Alex, Head of Red Cross Mr. Ugwueje Ugwunna, Head Religious Affairs, Mrs Regina Agulana, Head of Socials Mrs Ruth Jacob, Head of Sports Mrs Chizube Ogbonna and a host of other camp officials.

Meanwhile In the trilling opening football encounter between 4 and 8 platoon, platoon 4, came from behind to defeat 8 platoon via a penalty shootout, the game having ended in a one all draw.

While in the volleyball game platoon 9 defeated 6 platoon.
