The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Nasarawa state command Monday launched 313 of its officers as Agro-Rangers in the state.
Commandant of the corps, Mahamoud Fari stated this in Lafia, explaining thatthe effort was to ensure peace between cattle rearers and farmers in the state.
“The Agro-Rangers will help protect agro-allied investment and to checkmate farmers, herders’ clashes, kidnapping, cattle rustling as well as put to an end to the lingering destruction of crops in the state,” he said.
The commandant added that the Agro-Ranger was principally established to protect agro-allied investments such as livestock, farm produce and ranches haciendas, as well as mitigate cattle rustling among others.
“This would also conquer the damnability of armed robbers and catastrophes of kidnappers,” he said.
He, therefore, called on traditional rulers in the state to support the command to achieve the tasks ahead in the state.
