Chrisland University, Abeokuta has celebrated one of its Adjunct Lecturers, Justice Olatokunbo Olopade(rtd), an erstwhile Chief Judge of Ogun State who is bidding the University bye after a three-year stint.

Justice Olopade who greatly endeared herself to the teeming students of the institution is quitting lecturing so as to devote more time for her grandchildren and to spend more time to serve God.

Her impact was evident more with her being on the faculty of the College of Law recently accredited by the Council for Legal Education as the Institution parades many accomplished legal luminaries targeted at making the Law Programme the best in Nigeria.

Since 2019 shortly after her retirement as Chief Judge, the Management of Chrisland University had approached her to come and offer services to the institution as an Adjunct Lecturer, imparting knowledge to students studying Criminology and Security Studies.

It is for this reason that the Department of Criminology and Security Studies on Wednesday organized an exhilarating sendforth ceremony for the departing former CJ.

The well attended event held at the Conference Room of the College of Law Complex.

The Head of the Department, retired Commodore Dr Kunle Olawunmi, an Associate Professor of Global Counter-Terrorism, lauded Justice Olopade for her unblemished character, rare-to-find humility and down-to-earth personality.

Commodore Olawunmi himself joined the academia following retirement after a 35-year military service especially in the intelligence sphere, culminating in his appointment as Deputy Chief of Defence Administration.

Said Olawunmi: “Working with Mama has been so pleasing. We are going to miss her so much. Her impact on our students is legendary. Nothing is too much to devote to celebrating a matriarch and legal juggernaut like her. She has always being the first lecturer to finish marking and turn in results”

In her response, Justice Olopade said: “Chrisland University is the best institution for parents to bring their children. The facilities here on campus are top-notch and the quality of the teaching staff is highly commendable. I appreciate the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola for availing me the opportunity to serve another generation after my retirement.

“When I was told I would be teaching Criminal Law and Criminal Justice System which incidentally was one of the courses I received the best prize at the Law School, I didn’t have to research much.

As a Judge, I had been through that disciplined procedure. I had wonderful students who are well cultured and very well brought up. I will indeed miss Chrisland University and all these students.
