Ex-Kwara Deputy Speaker Christopher Ayeni Dies in Tragic Road Accident

A former Deputy Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Christopher Ayeni, tragically lost his life on Thursday in a road accident along the Ilorin-Ajase-Ipo Road in Irepodun Local Government Area.

The incident involved a commercial truck with registration number T-17488LA and a Toyota Hilux, registered ARP545KY, around 10 a.m., reportedly leaving multiple casualties.

The Kwara State Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) confirmed the accident, noting in a statement signed by FRSC spokesperson Mr. Basambo Olayinka that five persons sustained injuries, while Hon. Ayeni later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State extended his condolences to Ayeni’s family, friends, and associates. “This incident is truly devastating,” the governor remarked in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.

Governor AbdulRazaq also expressed sympathy for the people of Isapa, in Ekiti Local Government Area, who have lost an honorable figure from their community.

He prayed for the soul of the former lawmaker to find rest and for the strength of his loved ones to endure the profound loss.
