Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Hameed Adekunle Makama Oyelude Tegbosun III, CON. has advised the police service commission as a matter of urgency to ensure that police DPOs are posted to their locality as part of community policing in order to avert the ugly situation that happened at the weekend in Rivers state where a police DPO was beheaded.

Olowu, while commiserating with Nigeria police force and the family of the slain police officer, said the perpetrators of the dastardly act should be apprehended and face the full wrath of the law to serve as deterrent.

Olowu Kuta, in a statement by his media office, in Kuta on Sunday condemned such a heinous crime where a police officer was beheaded.

The monarch, however, emphasized the need for the police service commission and the inspector general of police to ensure that as part of community policing that all DPOs are from the same locality they are posted.

Olowu said that will not only help him to do his work diligently, but it will also afford him the opportunity to be familiar with the people .

According to Olowu, “the way the senior officer was beheaded has brought to fore again the need to always ensure that DPOs are posted to operate in their locality of Origin. I will advise the police service commission and the inspector general of police to ensure that all DPOs are posted to their locality as part of community policing. This will also help in intelligence gathering,” he said.

Olowu explained that the area commanders can come from any part of the country.

It will be recalled that a police DPO of Ahoada,SP Bako Angbashim, was beheaded on Friday by cultists.

Enraged by the dastardly act, Governor of Rivers State, Similaye Fubara, has suspended the traditional ruler of Ahoada and placed an N100 million bounty on suspect’s head.
